While many South Carolina families were celebrating Easter Sunday, the families of four people involved in a single car crash received devastating news. All four men were injured in the car accident — two of them fatally. Early that morning, the driver of the pickup truck occupied by the men somehow lost control of the vehicle.

When he did, it went off the road on the left hand side. When the driver attempted to get the pickup back on course, he over compensated. This caused the pickup to run off the road again — this time on the right side, where it ultimately slammed into a tree.

The 25-year-old driver died at the scene from the injuries he suffered in the crash. One of the three passengers, a 22-year-old man, survived the crash and was taken to an area hospital to be treated for his injuries. However, those injuries turned out to be too severe, and he died later that same day. The other two passengers suffered injuries as well, though their specific conditions were not reported.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Toxicology results are pending, along with autopsies of the two deceased men. Meanwhile, the families of these two men and the injured men await answers.

Some of those answers may provide proof of negligence, which is required in any civil action that may be filed because of this car accident. If negligence is established, the court may award monetary damages as provided by our laws. Those damages may differ, depending on whether a wrongful death or personal injury claim is filed, but both could yield a much-needed financial recovery.
