Unfortunately for many people involved in car accidents, traveling across an intersection can be often the final moment of too many people. All it takes is for a tiny slip up to make the difference between life and death. Unfortunately, for one South Carolina resident, this was the case after a fatal car accident in Pickens County.

The accident occurred on May 14 at around 12:50 p.m. A pickup truck was headed southbound on Highway 183, just as a car was traveling west on a crossroad. At the intersection, the two vehicles apparently didn’t stop and wait, thus running into each other.

The results were devastating. A 36-year-old passenger in the car died immediately at the scene of the crash as a result of the injuries he received. South Carolina troopers who responded to the crash reported that he had not been wearing his seat belt, though it is not known if it would have made any difference in this instance. Both drivers were injured and taken to the Greenville Memorial Hospital. At this time, the exact nature of their injuries and their conditions are not known.

While South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash, the damage has already been done. Nothing can bring the man back or entirely eliminate the pain and suffering of those involved in such a horrific accident. For those impacted by this crash, it is hoped that they will recover from this accident and find the will to cope with what happened.
