A truck accident between a car and a truck is bad enough. However, when the truck accident involves a man and a tractor-trailer, the results can be absolutely horrific. Unfortunately, this was exactly the case for a South Carolina man who was killed by a tractor-trailer after his car broke down.
The incident started when the car that he had been in broke down. The 20-year-old man and his mother had been checking out the condition of their car before the accident happened. Unfortunately, while he was stuck on the side of the road, he was struck by a tractor-trailer which had been hauling cars. He died shortly afterward.
At the moment, it is not exactly clear what went wrong. Understandably, the mother in her distressed state gave a confusing answer to investigators which made it sound like her son walked in front of the tractor-trailer; however, investigators suspect that this may not have been the case. They plan on giving the mother another interview in order to find out how such a horrific event could have happened.
For the mother, the damage has already been done. There are no words to describe how she must feel after watching her son die from the truck accident after being stranded on the side of the road near their South Carolina home. As she and the rest of the family mourn the loss of the young man, they retain the right to file a claim for wrongful death, depending on the results of the investigation. Such a claim is necessarily based on evidence that the fatality occurred due to the negligence of another party, such as the truck driver. A successful claim may help prevent an already emotionally devastating loss from turning into a financial tragedy as well.
