Highway 25 in South Carolina became the scene of a tragedy recently. A North Augusta man was killed in a car vs. motorcycle accident. Many of the details of the accident have still not been released.

What is known is that both the North Augusta man, who was riding a motorcycle, and another vehicle were traveling southbound on Highway 25 at the time of the accident. As the vehicles approached the area between Rose Road and Broad Walk Drive, the other vehicle collided with the motorcycle rider. The Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office has said that the motorcycle rider died as a result of the accident, but it is not known if he died at the scene.

It is also not known if the driver of the other vehicle suffered any injuries as a result of the accident. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident; they have not stated what charges, if any, will be filed against the driver of the vehicle that struck the motorcycle.

While the family of the victim of this tragic car vs. motorcycle accident waits for answers from the official investigation, they are forced to deal with the sudden loss. In time, the family may exercise the right to file a wrongful death claim against the driver of the vehicle that collided with the motorcycle. In proving that the driver was negligent and that the driver’s actions caused or contributed to the death of their family member, the family may convince a court to award the family monetary damages incurred in connection with this tragedy, including medical bills, funeral costs and such other damages as are allowed under our state laws.
