Three friends were supposed to attend a wedding in South Carolina, but never made it. They were involved in a single-car accident that put two of them in the hospital and killed the third. The accident is under investigation.

An early report from the South Carolina Highway Patrol reveals that the pickup truck somehow went off the of the road on the right side. When the driver attempted to get back on the road, he over-corrected. The pickup swerved from left to right before slamming into numerous trees and flipping over.

During the crash, one passenger was thrown from the vehicle. She sustained substantial internal injuries and died at the scene. The other passenger had been properly restrained at the time of the crash and was trapped in the vehicle. Emergency personnel had to extricate her from the vehicle. It has been discovered that she has since been released from the hospital and is at home.

There was no information on the extent of the driver’s injuries nor his current condition. There has been no indication as of yet whether he will be charged in the crash. It is not yet known if a factor such as speed, alcohol, inattention or distraction played a roll in this tragedy.

The driver may not face any criminal charges as a result of this car accident, but he could still face civil action from the family of the deceased passenger and the injured passenger. Expenses such as medical bills, lost wages and funeral costs have a tendency to add up quickly in serious accidents. Our state laws provide for the opportunity to recover those expenses and other damages should a driver be found to have been negligent in some way.
